The Back of Keppoch is a small coastal settlement in the Northwest Scottish Highlands. We chose to stay at Cnoc-na-Faire, a small bed and breakfast in between the village of Arsaig and Mallaig. Everything about Cnoc-na-Faire was spotless, from the rooms to the service and we were very well treated on our visit. As soon as you arrive you feel like you have stumbled across somewhere special and the views from the gardens across to the nearby beaches make the drive here worth while.
Eating out: On our first night we ate at The Old Library Lodge in Arsaig – a 5 minute drive from the hotel.
We’d decided to spend the next day going to the Isle of Skye but had made the mistake of not booking our ferry tickets ahead. The only time showing on the website was 1pm which would have been too late to visit. The ferry terminal is 10minutes away from Cnoc na Faire – so we took our chances and turned up at the ferry terminal at 9.30am to get in the ‘maybe’ queue. Luckily there was plenty of space and we were able to get across no problem. It was a 30minute trip across to Skye and we spent the day driving round the island – the scenery is amazing!
After checking out, we were recommend to visit Camusdarach Sands – wow – the beach was beautiful and having got there early we were the only ones for miles. If you want somewhere beautiful, remote with stunning beaches and close to the Isle of Skye, then the Back of Keppoch is the place to be and is a great stop off point on any Highland roadtrip.
