First Wedding Anniversary Present – ‘something paper’

Drawing for wedding anniversary present

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary at the beginning of this month (can’t believe a whole year has gone by already!) A few months beforehand I’d started to panic about what to buy my husband as a present. We’d agreed to be traditional and buy each other ‘something paper’ and I’d frantically searched online for present ideas. Everywhere suggested things like ‘letters, poems, collages, scrapbooks’ etc but I wanted to try and find something a bit different that I hadn’t already done and that we could put on the wall somewhere in the house and look at day-to-day.

I luckily stumbled across SlightlyWobbly Designs who do custom and bespoke wedding illustrations, family portraits and ready-made prints. I spoke to Alistair who asked me to send across my ideas and he quickly got back to me with prices and all the details I needed, plus importantly what timescale I was thinking of. They have a great social media presence and I liked that I could see examples of his previous work on Twitter and Instagram and how each drawing is done so individually.

I sent him some photos of us on our wedding day and explained what details I would like including in the picture. Alistair was great, really helpful and kept me up to date with the progress of my drawing. He sent me what he’d ‘done so far’ half way through and gave me the chance to give him any feedback or make any changes before the final copy was done.

I received the picture in the post and a digital copy via email before the anniversary and we absolutely love the final design (now framed proudly in our hallway.) Would recommend!

Congratulations!! What a great idea, we celebrated our first wedding anniversary but both came a bit stuck with paper gifts so treated each other to a nice meal and kept the paper receipt does that count 🙂
