Favourite things in San Diego
- Fish tacos – we’d read about these in the guidebook beforehand and asked for a recommendation when we checked in for the best place to eat. Our hotel was right next to the bay area and Seaport Village and we were able to walk down to a small cafe on the port which sold seafood. The fish tacos were amazing and we ate these overlooking the sea. Will be trying to make these when we get home!
- The Cheesecake Factory – Yes this is a chain but came as something of a revelation to us. Such good food and the cheesecakes were the most amazing thing ever. Red Velvet cake cheesecake! (Particularly as they are so big that you can take half home for breakfast the next day!)
- The Gaslamp Quarter – again next to our hotel, this area housed all the bars and restuarants and was a great place to wander round.
On our second day in San Diego we visited the zoo; it was a short drive from our hotel and we arrived late morning ready to spend the day there. It was a long walk round the park and we wished we’d jumped on one of the many buses that take you around the different areas!
Loved San Diego and would definitely recommend as a great place to spend a few days. Relaxed with lots of different areas to explore, it has something for everyone. The picture above is the view from our hotel – the Grand Manchester Hyatt.
